How 10 Minutes of Speaking Can Change Your Korean
Many people say,
“I don’t have enough time to study Korean.”
With busy schedules, finding an hour every day to study can feel impossible.
But here’s the good news:
You don’t need hours of study to improve your Korean speaking skills.
In fact, just 10 minutes of speaking practice every day can make a bigger difference than you might think.

Why Are Just 10 Minutes So Powerful?
Many language learners focus on how long they study.
But speaking is different.
It’s not just about learning new information—it’s about building a habit.
Think about learning to play the piano or exercising. Practicing a little every day is often more effective than practicing for several hours once a week.
Language learning works the same way.
Understanding Korean and actually speaking Korean are two completely different skills.
The more often you speak, the more natural it becomes.
You Can Always Find 10 Minutes
Many learners believe they don’t have enough time.
But ten minutes is often easier to find than we think.
You can practice:
- Before your morning coffee
- During your lunch break
- After work
- Before going to bed
The goal isn’t to study longer.
The goal is to practice consistently.
What Should You Do in 10 Minutes?
You don’t need a complicated study plan.
A simple routine is often the most effective.
Minutes 1–2
Read today’s Korean expressions out loud.
Minutes 3–5
Repeat five useful Korean sentences.
For example:
- 오늘 뭐 했어요?
- 저는 커피를 좋아해요.
- 지금 뭐 하고 있어요?
- 내일은 쉬어요.
- 괜찮아요.
Minutes 6–8
Ask yourself simple questions and answer them in Korean.
For example:
- What did I eat today?
- What will I do this weekend?
- What’s my favorite food?
Short answers are perfectly fine.
Minutes 9–10
Talk about your day in Korean.
Don’t worry about making perfect sentences.
Just keep speaking.
Consistency Builds Confidence
I’m also learning English, so I know how challenging language learning can be.
I’ve tried shadowing, watched movies, and practiced listening.
But I eventually realized that what I needed most wasn’t more studying—it was more opportunities to actually speak.
Language doesn’t become natural just because we study it.
It becomes natural when we use it.

Start Today
Don’t wait until you have an entire free hour.
Ten minutes today is far more valuable than waiting for the “perfect” time to study.
Small daily habits lead to big improvements.
One conversation at a time, you’ll notice yourself becoming more confident in Korean.
