7 Korean Beauty Habits That Cost Almost Nothing (But Make a Big Difference)
I believe that beautiful skin isn’t just about buying expensive skincare products. It’s the small habits we practice every day that make the biggest difference.
Healthy skin doesn’t happen overnight. But when simple habits become part of your daily routine, you’ll start to notice changes over time.
Today, I’d like to share seven Korean beauty habits that I personally practice. They cost little to nothing, but I truly believe they’ve helped improve my skin over the years.
1. Wash Your Face with Lukewarm Water
Years ago, I often heard people say, “Wash your face with warm water to open your pores, then finish with cold water to close them.”
However, after learning more about skincare, I realized that pores don’t actually open and close like doors. Extremely hot or cold water can also be irritating to the skin.
That’s why I always wash my face with lukewarm water, whether I’m removing makeup or simply cleansing my skin.
It’s a small change, but my skin feels much calmer and less dry after washing.

2. Try Not to Touch Your Face
This is one of the biggest habits that has improved my skin.
Interestingly, I touch my face much less when I’m wearing makeup.
After applying sunscreen, a tone-up cream, foundation, or cushion makeup, I’m naturally more careful because I don’t want to ruin my makeup. Even if my face feels itchy, I gently tap the area instead of scratching it.
When I’m not wearing makeup, I tend to touch my face much more without even realizing it.
For me, wearing light makeup isn’t just about looking polished—it also reminds me to keep my hands away from my face, helping reduce unnecessary irritation throughout the day.
3. Change Your Pillowcase and Bedding Regularly
Your face spends several hours against your pillow every night.
Even if you shower and wash your hair before bed, pillowcases gradually collect oil, sweat, and residue over time.
I try to change my pillowcase regularly and wash the blanket that touches my face every two to three weeks.
Clean bedding creates a cleaner environment for your skin, and it’s one of the easiest beauty habits anyone can adopt.

4. Sleep on Your Back Whenever Possible
I naturally prefer sleeping on my side.
However, I noticed that side sleeping keeps one side of my face pressed against the pillow for hours, creating pressure and friction.
Now I try to sleep on my back whenever I can.
I don’t do it perfectly every night, but making a conscious effort has become part of my routine.

5. Don’t Stop Your Skincare at Your Face
Many people apply skincare products only to their face.
I like to extend my skincare routine to my jawline, neck, and upper neck area.
When I apply toner, serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen, I make sure to include my neck as well.
The neck is one of the first places to show visible signs of aging, so I believe it deserves the same care as the face.

6. Start Every Morning with Water
Every morning, the first thing I do is drink a glass of water.
After sleeping all night, it helps me feel refreshed and hydrated before I do anything else.
I also take my probiotic on an empty stomach as part of my morning routine.
For me, this simple habit supports not only my overall health but also helps me maintain healthier-looking skin.

7. Be Consistent—and Listen to Your Skin
If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that consistency matters far more than perfection.
I don’t believe you need to follow the exact same skincare routine every morning and every night.
Instead, I pay attention to how my skin feels each day.
I enjoy using different types of serums, including vitamin C, hydrating serums, and products that focus on fine lines or skin barrier support. Even my hydrating serums have different textures, scents, and finishes, so I choose them based on what my skin needs that day.
In the morning, I usually keep my routine simple with one or two lightweight products before applying sunscreen.
At night, I spend a little more time on my skincare. I usually apply three or four products, allowing each layer to absorb before applying the next. Taking a short break between each step gives the products time to settle into my skin and turns my nighttime routine into a relaxing ritual.
Some mornings my skin feels drier than usual, so I might use a serum that I normally reserve for nighttime. Other days, my skin only needs a lightweight hydrating serum.
I’ve learned that my skin changes with the weather, stress, hormones, sleep, and even my daily routine.
Rather than forcing myself to use the same products every day, I prefer to listen to what my skin is telling me and adjust my routine accordingly.
Of course, everyone’s skin is different, and this is simply what has worked best for me.
Beautiful skin isn’t created in one day.
It’s built through small, thoughtful choices that you make consistently over time.
Many of these habits cost almost nothing, yet they’ve made a much bigger difference to my skin than constantly chasing the newest skincare products.
Sometimes, the best beauty secrets aren’t expensive at all—they’re simply the little habits you practice every single day.
