Sunscreen Over Makeup?

Can You Reapply Sunscreen Over Makeup? My Honest Experience

Even if I apply sunscreen before doing my makeup in the morning, I’ve realized that reapplying it in the afternoon is just as important—especially during summer. The days are longer, the sun is stronger, and our skin is exposed to UV rays for much longer than we often realize.

That’s why I started looking for a sunscreen stick that I could use over makeup. Since the weather has been so hot lately, I also hoped to find one with a cooling effect to help refresh my skin throughout the day.

To be honest, the cooling effect wasn’t as noticeable as I expected. It didn’t give me that instant, refreshing feeling I was hoping for.

However, after using it for a while, I found several things that I really liked.

The first thing I noticed was how lightweight it felt. The gel-like texture glides smoothly over the skin and applies in a very thin, even layer. Even after reapplying, it never feels heavy or cakey.

Last year, I tried a few different sunscreen sticks, and many of them felt thick on my skin. Some were also sticky enough that my hair would cling to my face whenever there was a little breeze. This one is completely different. It doesn’t leave that tacky feeling behind, making it much more comfortable to wear.

That said, the finish isn’t powdery or matte. Instead, it leaves a subtle, healthy-looking glow that makes the skin look fresh without feeling greasy.

Another feature I really appreciated was how well it worked over makeup. After applying it on top of my blush, the color was still visible. It didn’t smear or noticeably fade my makeup, which tells me the formula is very lightweight and transparent.

For me, that’s already a big advantage. Even without a dramatic cooling effect, being able to reapply sunscreen easily over makeup is something I value much more.

When we were in our twenties, our skin may have been more resilient. But as we get older, I think protecting our skin becomes even more important. Instead of relying on a single application in the morning, reapplying sunscreen once in the afternoon has become an essential part of my summer skincare routine.

If you’re looking for an easy way to keep your skin protected without ruining your makeup, carrying a sunscreen stick in your bag is definitely worth considering this summer.
