The Changes I Started Noticing Around Ovulation in My 40s—And What Has Helped Me

Until my late 30s, I barely noticed when I was ovulating.
After my period ended, life simply went on as usual. I never experienced ovulation pain, unusual discharge, or any symptoms that made me pay attention to that time of the month.
But sometime in my late 30s and early 40s, I started noticing subtle changes.

About 10 to 14 days after my period, I would sometimes feel a mild ache or slight pressure in my lower abdomen. Occasionally, I would notice a small amount of brown discharge that lasted for two or three days.
Even though I’m rarely sexually active, there were times when the vaginal area simply felt a little different—slightly more sensitive or mildly uncomfortable. Nothing painful, nothing alarming, just… not quite my normal.
I also noticed that the discharge on my underwear sometimes had a stronger odor than usual.
It wasn’t a strong or unpleasant smell, and I never experienced itching, burning, or pain. The symptoms always disappeared on their own after a couple of days.
Still, because it happened almost every month around the same time, it became something I couldn’t ignore.
As I looked into it, I learned that hormonal changes around ovulation can affect vaginal discharge and pH levels. Some women also notice subtle changes in odor during this time of the month.
Of course, everyone’s body is different, and I can’t say for certain that’s exactly what’s happening in my case. But the timing has been remarkably consistent month after month.
Because of that, I started paying more attention to my vaginal health.
I tried taking women’s probiotics designed to support vaginal health, and later I discovered RepHresh Vaginal Gel.

Honestly, I didn’t expect much at first.
But after using it several times, it became one of those products I keep on hand.
For me, I usually use it when I know “it’s that time again”—around 10 days after my period, when I begin noticing those familiar changes.
Personally, I’ve found that it helps me feel fresher for the next few days. The discharge becomes less noticeable, and the mild odor that usually bothers me seems much less noticeable as well.
I’m not saying this product will work the same way for everyone, and it’s certainly not a substitute for medical care.
If you experience a strong fishy odor, itching, pain, unusual yellow or green discharge, or any symptoms that concern you, it’s always best to see your healthcare provider.
However, if you’re like me and you’ve started noticing small but recurring changes around ovulation after entering your 40s, I thought my experience might be helpful.
Sometimes, simply hearing that someone else has gone through something similar can be reassuring.
For me, RepHresh Vaginal Gel has become one of the products I reach for during that time of the month, and it’s something I genuinely feel comfortable recommending based on my own experience.
